The Gateway Publishing Site provides educational resources

to equip you to think theologically and lead effectively in your ministry.


Long before our seminary changed names, The Gateway was the title of the institution’s annual magazine. Today, we carry that heritage into The Gateway Publishing Site – an expanded collection of content exploring theology, leadership, practical ministry, and more. Within this site, you will find a curated selection of blogs, articles, podcasts, and videos from Gateway’s community of scholars and experienced ministry leaders.


Our four primary categories:

Theology

This category collects challenging, informative and gospel-centered writing, podcasts and videos. Gateway Seminary has a reputation for practical training of leaders for contextualized ministry. While some may assume robust theological education and practical ministry preparation are at odds with one another, we believe the foundation of effective ministry is good theology. Proper thinking is necessary for appropriate action. Join us here for resources that engage in scriptural interpretation, dogmatics, the Christian heritage, and a variety of other theological disciplines as we seek to become better thinkers for the body of Christ.

Leadership

The Leadership category features encouraging, honest, and realistic reflections from a community of experienced ministry leaders, including our president, Dr. Jeff Iorg. Two primary features of this section are Iorg’s longstanding weekly blog and the LEAD ON podcast, his weekly show on the joys, burdens and challenges that accompany the call to leadership. The insights here are founded in the Bible, have been earned through experience, and then tested in the ministry field.

Voices

The Voices category is eclectic – it features a variety of formats united by Gateway’s values. In it you will find alumni stories, opinion pieces, cultural engagement, and more – all of it explores how the gospel is pressing into the world. In a way, the pieces you read and listen to in the Voices category are a clear reflection of the heart of Gateway Seminary.

Ministry

The Ministry category is a space to expand your understanding of the day-to-day, boots-on-the-ground tasks of church work. From sermon preparation strategies to youth ministry engagement principles and cross-cultural communication insights to thoughts on serving differently-abled people in your church. Join the conversation here for fresh and encouraging perspectives to enliven the ministry you serve, whether that is on the mission field or in a Sunday school room.


From time to time, we will incorporate a fifth category to help The Gateway community reflect on, dialogue, and address timely cultural issues. Philip O. Hopkins is the associate professor of Church history at Gateway Seminary. He earned Ph.D. in applied theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and a second Ph.D. in Iranian history from the University of St. Andrews (Scotland). He is also a research fellow for the Institute of Iranian Studies at the University of St. Andrews, guest lecturer at Russian-Armenian University in Yerevan, Armenia, and part of the editorial board for Iran and the Caucasus (Brill).

Prior to Gateway, Dr. Rathel supplied pastoral care to churches in the United States and Scotland, served as an Adjunct Professor of Theology and Philosophy for the Baptist College of Florida, and provided teaching assistance for the University of St Andrews.
