Originally from Bakersfield, California, Christmas is a graduate of California Baptist University, Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, and Gateway Seminary of the Southern Baptist Convention. He earned a Ph.D. in New Testament Studies at Gateway Seminary (neé Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary), with a minor in Old Testament studies.

He previously was the associate pastor of Cornelia Avenue Southern Baptist Church in Fresno, CA from May 2017 to May 2021. He then became the senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Clairemont in San Diego, CA in June 2021. In April of 2025, FBC Clairemont voted to accept the offer of adoption from Quest Church and Christman is now one of the pastors on the pastoral team of Quest Church.
